Let’s be real: navigating South Africa in a wheelchair can feel like a sport of its own! Even though there are initiatives out there, everyday living conditions for people with physical limitations still fall short of the mark. There is still a mountain of work to be done to ensure everyone gets the right support but that is exactly why Remme-Los Self-Help Centre is in the driver’s seat, pushing boundaries and rolling past the limits! Curious about how we smash these barriers every day? Cruise on over to our Remme-los Self Help Centre and Independent Living Centre (ILC) project tab to see our self-help model in action.

OUR MISSION: SHIFTING GEARS & BREAKING BARRIERS

We aren’t just an organization; we are a powerhouse for our community. We are on a mission to:

  • Prevent Injuries: Educating and raising awareness to reduce spinal cord injuries before they happen.
  • Deliver the Goods: Getting essential products, specialized services, and real-time support directly to the people who need them most through our Independent Living Centre (ILC) project.

OUR VISION: THE ULTIMATE ROADMAP BARRIERS

We are fiercely focused on creating an awesome, self-sustaining future for quadriplegics and paraplegics alongside our incredible donor rockstars. We have our eyes locked on the prize, and we refuse to take a detour from our three ultimate goals:

    • Accessible Transport: Rolling out reliable, wheelchair-friendly transport so our community can move freely.
    • Brilliant Housing: Providing safe, comfortable, and independent residential spaces built for our needs.
    • Public Awareness: Teaching the world to understand, respect, and support the unique journeys of spinally injured individuals.

Remme-los Self Help Centre is affiliated with the Quadriplegic Association of Gauteng South (QAGS) and its national body the Quad Para Association of South Africa (QASA). It is situated in Primrose, Germiston within the Ekurhuleni Region.
